I will confess upfront, I'm tired of politicians and their "politicking!" I also know I'm not alone. People still "perk up their ears" at a Presidential speech, and we hear a lot of words, ideas, and even some tuff talk.

And then...NOTHING HAPPENS! It's all politicking...

True, Mr. Obama's national job plan had some points upon which both Republicans and Democrates could agree. But it also had a good dose of the "same old stuff" that nobody can agree on. How many times must we hear it? Of course all elected officials agree on the "to do" list: Reduce the deficit, increase taxes for the wealthy, give tax breaks to the middle class, reform entitlements, cut business taxes, and close tax "loopholes."

But when it comes time to actually DO these things, everyone has a different approach and no one sounds willing to compromise.

What's worse, right now is not the time to pass new laws, it's time to work on getting re-elected. Everybody is busy with "political posturing." Everything that politicians do or say must have a certain "look" to it. Every action MUST convey just the right perception to the American public, or it could have major consequences come time to vote. This fact alone translates into a "drag down" and even a complete halt to any major legislative action.

Unfortunantely, one of the very most important proposals before government today is the President's job plan. However, the way in which Mr. Obama put his proposal out there seems very well done, politically speaking. He's tossed a "hot potatoe" into the hands of the congress and challenged them to act on it, with expediency!

By doing this, the President appears as if he's really trying to get something done, (good political posturing), while at the same time, he is shining the spotlight directly on the Republican house to actually PASS the bill or look bad to voters, (even smarter political posturing)!

Now, I'm not yet completely cynical about our elected officials. I think perhaps the President and some members of government are honestly trying to push through helpful legislation as soon as they can. I also can see that voting into effect any law without relevant input and a reasonable time of consideration can be devastating.

But such things as this require a collaberative effort on all sides. We have nothing whatsoever that even resembles cooperation like this from most of our current lawmakers. This "you say tomato, I say tomoto" attitude in Washington is nothing more than a bunch of bad kids throwing rocks and misbehaving on the playground!

The only pure truth I can see is the obvious one. We'd better pull our political heads out of the sand and start making a positive difference before America completely and irrevobably implodes!
